This is it. The new and latest Ferrari model: the 599 GTB.

This mid-front engined two-seater coupé is the car bound to replace the 575M Maranello, which is soon to be gone.

The 599 GTB, is Ferrari’s most powerful V12-engined production car of all time.

Amedeo Felisa, Ferrari’s Vice General Manager announced the birth of their latest model in the 2006 Detroit Motor Show.

Its 5,999cc V12 is derived directly from the Enzo Ferrari supercar and produces no less than 620hp at 7,600 rpm for a weight/power ratio of just 2.6 kg per horsepower.

The design, by Pininfarina, is aggressive, with those big air intakes, but still classy. I’d say that with its latest models, Ferrari is aiming at getting back a bit of the ‘old’ Ferrari feel, leaving the more ‘rude’ supercar look to Lamborghini and the like.

This latest approach to the classic Ferrari V12 berlinetta series will be officially launched in a week (February 28, 2006) at the Geneva Motor Show.
