Michael Schumacher did what he could, but second position was as good as it was ever going to get unless Alonso had a problem - and he did not. Schumacher made up one position on Fisichella in the first round of pit stops, but could do nothing about the pace of the leading R26.

Renault did a very good job today in Barcelona: Alonso and Fisichella are, respectively, at first and second place.
And the track’s record has also been smashed with Alonso’s 1.14.637 time.
But Ferrari got the third and fourth place, with Schumacher on a 1.14.970 time, at just +0.333 from the first.
